We all have been tied down to our homes as the pandemic still prevails. Long distance traveling is definitely not an option for a long time. But there is no better time than now to take this opportunity and explore a place that has always been around us. As travelers, we are always looking forward to going someplace outside of our own city or country. And yes, visiting new places is very exciting but spending some time exploring your own city, the city which you call home has a different charm to it. And we may be under the impression that we know all about our city because we have lived here our entire lives but once you actually step out to explore, you will find that there are so many hidden places in nooks and corners that you never knew about. And to help you find said hidden places, here’s presenting a list of 4 ways to explore your city.
1. Ask people to recommend a place
When it comes to choosing a favourite place in one’s city, everyone has different preferences. Some may like to visit different restaurants, while some may like visiting historic monuments or maybe museums. Asking around will give you a multitude of places you can visit and you will also find out what other people like to do in your city. And once you have visited, even you can then recommend a new place to someone else!
2. Sign up for a city tour
If you don’t want to explore on your own, sign up for a safe city tour that will take you around the must-visit places around the city. You could even try boarding a Hop On Hop Off bus to get a different, fresh perspective of your city. The tour will take you to places you have never been to before; it may also take you to places that you have already visited but it will also be a way of learning some new things about it.
3. Explore a new camping site
If you are looking to get away and take some time off, then the perfect way to do so would be to find a new camping site in and around your city. Put yourself in the shoes of a visitor coming to your city – what would be the best view for your camping day? Which location would you pick? Plan your entire stay as if the city is new to you and get the ultimate feel of what tourists feel like when they explore new places.
4. Check out a new restaurant
In the hustle and bustle of everyday life, we don’t get a lot of chances to choose a different restaurant when heading out to eat or ordering in. We usually select from the same 3-4 restaurants that we know like the back of our hand. This time, look up a new joint – it could be the one that everyone is posting about on Instagram or it could be some quiet place hidden that not a lot of people know about.
By visiting a new place, you will get to find the different types of cuisines that your city has to offer, different types of people that visit the restaurant. You can visit alone if you are looking for some ‘me time’ or maybe bring a couple of your friends along to double the fun. Look up restaurants ranging from cafes to fine dining, from international cuisine to local delicacies and everything in between and feel the many flavours of your city! And while you feel the many flavours of your city, remember to also feel safe. Always carry your mask and sanitizer.
Now we may have given you 4 ways of exploring your city that can break the monotony of your everyday routine and get you close to your wanderlust. It is up to you which way you want to go. If you choose all 4, nothing like it!
